INFLAMMATION
Inflammation as described in the picture is the first warning sign of many diseases causing irritation and swelling. The word inflammation comes from the Latin "inflammo", meaning "I set alight, I ignite". Inflammation is non-discriminate and can affect all the systems of the body, i.e. integumentary system, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, etc. The integumentary system (skin), can inflame do to eczema or more commonly, bug bites. The endocrine system is comprised of glands, which secrete various hormones, and when inflamed a gland could not be working properly leading to delayed growth spurts. Also, If the cardiovascular system is inflamed the heart would be enlarged, called, pericarditis, which irritates the outer lining sac of the heart, causing chest pain.
Autoimmune disorders also affect the inflammation system fiercely; autoimmune means the body causes self-inflected harm on itself. One example is rheumatoid arthritis; a chronic condition where every joint in the body is swollen with irritation, eventually causing bone detrition. The five main signs of inflammation include; pain, heat, redness, swelling, and immobility.
Although inflammation might seem destructive and a nuisance, the inflammatory system helps heal wounds, cuts, and bruises. In the process of healing, inflammation irritates but aids damaged muscles. In addition, as discussed previously in the Immune and Lymphatic tab, the inflammation is part of our innate immunity. The innate immunity is naturally in our bodies when born and non-specific to pathogens. Another difference in the inflammation system is chronic and acute inflammation. Chronic inflammation persists for years and generally is a result from the immune system mistaking itself for detrimental pathogens. Acute inflammation, on the other hand, offsets unexpectedly with severe bursts of pain typically lasting for a few days to weeks. The five signs of an acute inflammation is called PRISH; Pain, Redness, Immobility, Swelling, and Heat.

PubMed: Neuroinflammation and central nervous system regeneration in vertebrates
Vertebrates have regeneration problems caused by their CNS, however scientists are discovering that invertebrates do not experience the same problem immune cells and neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) communicate.
